Trained as an engineer, Tunji Okusanya
ran MIC, a funeral home in Lagos. He was also one of the celebrity go-to
undertakers in Nigeria. His choice of career was influenced by his
father, who dealt in caskets.
He attended Christ Church Cathedral, and
after school, would go and work at his father’s shop located on Lagos
Island.
Although he was trained as an engineer,
Okusanya never practised as one. He attended a technical school in the
United Kingdom offering degree programmes. He lived in the UK for seven
years before returning to Nigeria.
The name of his father’s company was
Magbamowo Industrial Company. He picked the first letter of each word to
arrive at MIC. He started MIC in 1982.
He was a Christian.
